Movie Conventions Research: Annabelle

  •  What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

Annabelle employs jump scares to startle viewers and create moments of intense fright. The film also utilizes atmospheric tension, building a sense of unease and anticipation throughout. With the
presence of a supernatural entity. Annabelle taps into the classic horror trope of the haunted or
possessed object. Additionally, the movie incorporates eerie settings, such as dimly lit rooms and old houses, to enhance the feeling of dread and fear.

  • What conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you liked?

In the horror genre I really enjoy seeing well-executed jump scares, and Annabelle had exactly that. The jumpscares frightened me and were able to get me out of my seat. The movie also had eerie settings that allowed for the fear factor to rise. I really enjoy watching horror films with such areas and lighting because it really allows me to feel angst.

  • What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and vou are thinking of not filming for your final task?

In Annabelle. I disliked watching the scenes where the tension was high. I felt like the scenes were dragged for far too long and it took away from the enjoyment of watching the movie. In our movie, my partner and I will try our best to not drag out any moments for too long. We feel like it'll ruin the flow
