Production Blog: Everything we needed!

Hi Camination, welcome back to another blog!!

In this blog, I will be explaining all the preparations and props we had to gather for our film.

To begin with, for our props, we used things that we already owned. For example, Katherine brought a box of crayons from her house, which we used for the drawing scenes of the film. Since she brought a brand new box of crayons we wanted them to seem as if they were used. So, we broke some into smaller pieces and ripped some of the paper wrappings to make them look used.

For our costumes, we wanted them to be simple and casual. This is because the setting of our movie is inside a home, meaning there is no need for any extravagant costumes. We wanted the audience to feel like the characters were cozy and comfortable. For Santiago, we wanted him to wear a pair of shorts with a t-shirt to emphasize the comfortability of the film.

The idea for our film was that all of it was during the night time however, we recorded some of the scenes during the afternoon. These scenes were mainly the kitchen scenes. We dimmed the kitchen lights and closed all the blinds to make it as dark as we could while still being visible. For some of the scenes with Santiago, we had to record them during the daytime with the blinds down. This is because the daytime is when he is the most energetic, meaning he would look awake in the film.

We tried different angles and different phones to record the film since none of us owned a camera. We chose the phone that had the best quality so the film could look its best. However, halfway through the filming process, we had to switch phones because the other did not have enough storage for all of the material. So Katherine and I used both phones to record different scenes. My sister also helped us with some of the lighting for the scenes.

This is some extra information about our filming process. Thank you!!
